What is Autism? Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder and is part of a group of disorders known as Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), which also includes Pervasive Development Disorder (PPD) and Asperger's Syndrome. How is Autism recognized? Autism impairs a persons ability to communicate and relate to others socially. It is also associated with rigid routines and repetitive and/or challenging behaviors. Each child is unique and symptoms can range from mild to severe.
